Back To Basics’ monthlies at Wire have been an integral part of the club’s roster for over a year now. The resident parties and other dates, which have welcomed the likes of Bloody Mary, Citizenn, Adam Shelton and Jordan Peak, have maintained the club’s reputation for attracting a solid crowd of music lovers every month, whilst attracting the next generation of party people through promising new talent.
February’s party will see one of the most exciting line-ups descend on the club since Basics moved to Wire in September 2014. It will also play host to Basics’ first label showcase at Wire since the move too, with the label in question being the Leeds based Vessel Records. Spearheaded by Back To Basics resident James Barnsley and Owen Mills, Vessel has put out a number of exciting releases already featuring the likes of Daze Maxim, DJ W!ld, Burnski and Honesty to name but a few, with many more already line up for the coming year.
Four Vessel artists will be playing at Wire on the 20th of February, with the first of the four being the Parisian duo Politics Of Dancing. Made up of S.M.A.L.L and PACO, two highly sought after selectors in the Paris club scene, Politics Of Dancing run their eponymous record label that has given us plenty of heavy-duty dance floor material over the part couple of years. Their own productions on the label including Battle Groove, No Pressure and Black Storm can be found in the record boxes of everyone from Dyed Soundorom to Basics’ own Tristan Da Cunha and although their first appearance on Vessel is still under wraps, there’s no doubt it will do the business once again.
Politics Of Dancing, who will be making their Leeds debut at Basics in February, will be joined by a DJ who as of yet has not played in the UK. Based in Salamanca in Spain, Scan Mode has built a hardy reputation DJing around his home country, not to mention having had music released on labels like Cadenza Lab, Savor and Drumma to name but a few. Also the lynchpin of his own record label Raw Rootz with his friend Alvaro Sanchez, Scan Mode has released music from Jay Tripwire, Felipe Venegas and also Stacey Pullen. This will be a very exciting UK debut at Basics for Scan Mode.
Next on the line up will of course be label boss and Back To Basics resident James Barnsley, who has brought some serious noise to Wire during his last performances there, most recently on New Years Eve. Finally we have Trackers. Although you may not have heard the name before, you will no doubt be familiar the two Leeds DJs who are involved in this new alias born out of the Vessel label. Both talented DJs and producers, this is sure to be an exciting debut for the pair who have their first release on Vessel coming soon. Their identity now however, must remain a little secret.
This is one heavyweight line up that will see no nonsense house music being pumped from Wire’s Funktion One’s all night long, so be ready for it.
