Since September of last year, with the exception of the 23rd Birthday, the countries flagship dance music event Back To Basics has resided on Call Lane at Wire, a venue that has seen a whirlwind of impressive bookings over the last year. Confident the club will keep providing the incredible vibes that have been captured at the recent Back To Basics parties, Dave Beer and the Basics team have announced they will be holding home at Wire for the time being, whilst continuing to secure a full time venue where the club can reside.
Since September Basics have welcomed the likes of Adam Shelton, Clive Henry, Maurice Fulton and Mark Jenkyns to their parties that are unparalleled in the city of Leeds and beyond. This month they have pulled out even more of the stops by inviting one of the most talented female artists in the dance music world, Bloody Mary. As a DJ and a newly live performer Mary has all the skills a great performer should have, with added oomph! Lively, fully integrated and musically agile, Mary is a pleasure to watch. As the label owner of Dame Music, Mary has also proved she has taught skills in A&R as the imprint has released a long line of impressive releases from the likes of John Dimas, Axel Boman, Subb-an, David K and Emerson Todd amongst the rosters other talented individuals. This is definitely one for the books!
Joining Bloody Mary will be Ceri, another hugely talented female DJ who is also a good friend of Back To Basics. Having been residing in London for a number of years, Ceri has been soaking up some of the best nightlife in the country, however with the determination to further pursue all she knows and loves, Ceri has become a resident at one of the capitals most well known after hours parties, Jaded. Having also been technically proficient in the studio Ceri has gained releases with a long line of respected music labels that include London’s seminal Wiggle, Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations, Suruba and Dilate amongst others.
Rounding off this classy line up will one of Back To Basics longest standing residents Frenchy who has also enjoyed performances at Below and a number of parties in the capital after moving there in recent weeks. Dave Beer will also be doing his thing, which Basics would be so without, as well as a return from young prodigy Tom Midgley AKA TMS. Back in October Tom was showcased as one of Basics’ new school DJ’s, and with releases on Leeds own Mora Music amongst others in the pipeline, the future is looking bright for Tom.
