After another bumper New Years Day party, Birmingham based promoters Below (headed up by One Records duo Adam Shelton and Subb-an) return in April, May and August with three huge events.
Sunday 20th April sees Below bring an Easter Special to The Rainbow Venues, Birmingham with two certified veterans in Zip (pictured above) and Mr G topping the bill, alongside Adam Shelton and Subb-an.
As a mainstay of global underground dance music, unaffected by trends, fashions and fads, Zip remains a constant. There are few who despite the demise in the popularity of minimal have remained as relevant and adored as Thomas Franzmann (aka Zip). Co-founder of the label Perlon, on which he has released under several moniker’s including Dimbiman, Narcotic Syntax and Pantytex. As well as his work on Perlon, his releases have found their way onto multiple imprints including Playhouse, Novamute, Force inc and many more. As a DJ, the German is one of the most respected on the circuit, a truly impeccable selector and you would struggle to find a safer pair of hands behind the turntables.
Widely considered to be one of the most highly under rated musicians of his type, Colin McBean aka Mr G's contribution to dance music is seemingly never ending. Starting out as part of the KCC DJ trio, before parting ways in 1999 Mr G has become known for his heavy, no nonsense, funky techno analogue sounds – finding their rightful place further in his incredible live sets.
Having released on the likes of Defected, The End, Duty Free and more as well as remixing a broad range of artists, from Ben Sims and Josh Wink to Roger Sanchez and Ms Kitten - everything he touches turns to gold.
Sunday 4th May sees Below celebrate their 9th Birthday bringing an even bigger lineup to The Rainbow Venues, with Loco Dice and Robert Dietz joining Below founders and residents Adam Shelton and Subb-an. A rare chance to see the Desolate boss in the UK this year.
Sunday 24th August marks the date for Below's Bank Holiday Special – lineup to be announced shortly.
