DJ Mag’s 25th Birthday celebrations have gone up a notch with the release of more names on the lineup for Birmingham’s The Rainbow Venues on Saturday 19th November. Already a big event thanks to a headline set from garage master DJ EZ, the addition of Benga, Cause & Affect and more has ensured that the event will fit the occasion as the popular magazine marks its quarter century in the business.
DJ EZ is by now well known by all as one of the leading figures in UK garage, notorious for his ridiculous mixing and unbelievable knowledge of party anthems. Up there with the best of them when it comes to high-intensity, fast-mixed party sets, he’s made a name for himself as one of the most fun selectors around, and was no doubt an easy pick as head of the table for this one.
Joining him on the lineup though, a few similarly titan bookings will be making sure that they’re not cast as a one-man team, with dubstep legend Benga stepping in to throw his weighty selections into the mix. Big subby basslines and scattered percussion are to be expected from one of the genre’s early pioneers, so the Tempa, Big Apple, Hotflush and Planet Mu signing will appeal to a crowd of bass heads who remember the heady days of the mid-2000s, as well as fans of his extremely popular Magnetic Man project with Skream and Artwork.
Swing specialists Cause & Affect will also step in to bring their bass-heavy tech house and garage fusions to the party, as will jungle DJ Randall and breakbeat legends Stanton Warriors. Early garage innovators Dreem Teem complete the heavily packed lineup.
