Wireless Festival has announced new acts for 2016, with hip hop and R&B well represented by a mix of established acts and some of the most exciting new artists to come through in the last year. The festival will take place at Finsbury Park this July, from Friday 8th until Sunday 10th.
Detroit’s Big Sean stands out in the established acts camp, having released on Kanye’s GOOD Music as well as Def Jam Recordings and Roc Nation, and he is joined there by The Black Eyed Peas’ leading lady Fergie. Perhaps less of a household name, Metro Boomin nevertheless holds a similar status as a hip hop power player, having produced for the biggest in the game. Drake, Young Thug and Yeezy can all vouch for Metro Boomin’s talent, having had him mastermind some of their biggest tracks.
Raising the flag for British hip-hop, bhangra fusionist Jay Sean joins Grime duo Elf Kid and Ghetts, whilst the summer festival will also see Notting Hill resident Shakka perform his blend of dub, indie, soul and dance music. R&B starlet Jorja Smith, a part-timer sure to make it in the big leagues given the success of singles “Blue Lights” and “A Prince”, and Amsterdam’s Natalie de Rose are another two picks from the new lineup announcements, which also boasts Digital Father, Sonny, Rude Kid, K Stewart and The Manor, among others.
