Thousands of people, camping and music is what you’d expect to find at most festivals. Throw in an enormous flame engulfed wicker man and a whole host of different festival created communities, add that all to the middle of the Nevada desert and you have yourself Burning Man festival.
Starting back in 1982, the popularity of Burning Man has spread like fire to become one of the most recognisable festivals in the world thanks to unmistakable effigy of the burning man, having been as tall as 100ft in certain years. The near 70,000 person strong crowd are welcomed to come and explore the site and embrace such principles as radical self-expression, self-reliance, participation and inclusion amongst others.
One of the biggest sound camps within Burning Man, going by the name of Ooligan Alley, will be taking their party spirit and decor over to Electric Brixton this October 3rd for a special Ooligan Alley themed Afterburn party at the London Club. The Ooligan Alley portion of Burning Man Festival features a hollowed out aeroplane with Decks instead of a cockpit and DJ instead of Pilot. The Ooligan’s massive Funktion One sound system and remote control flamethrowers, makes the trip across the Atlantic every year to feature at Burning Man. Given the harsh environment cleaning the sound system after the party takes 3 months, it has to be entirely rebuilt. The Ooligan camp takes weeks to set up out in the desert and is put together by a host of volenteers who offer up their services and own money to create Ooligan alley and then return to their day jobs in the real world once the festival has reached its conclusion for that year. Last years event saw the likes of Seth Troxler, Skream, Waff and Lee Foss take to the control of the plane.
Electric Brixton will be welcoming over the famous plane on the 3rd of October for Afterburn, however no partygoers will be aboard and that is where Ooligan Alley needs your help to ensure the party vibes are in full flow in London. Psytrance artists such as Swedish duo Vibrasphere and Perfect Stranger as well as many more will be in captaining the plane on the night which promises to be one of the most unique events taking place in the capital this month.
All ticket sales from the event will be going towards ensuring Ooligan Alley remains a mainstay of the burning man festival for years to come. This will be the first time Ooligan Alley will be recreated over in the UK making it an experience that should not be missed.
