For a special Easter celebration in April, Butter Side Up welcomed yet another top shelf selector from the US in Maurice Fulton. Now, after the previous three heavily supported American bookings who were brought to Wire between February and April, also including Fred P and Kyle Hall, Butter Side Up have delved their smooth, selective hands into Europe this month to bring us one of the most exciting DJs of today.
Prosumer hails from Saarbrueken, a town on the border of Germany and France, however it was in Berlin where Achim Branberg began DJing under this alias in 2005, before eventually moving to Edinburgh where he is currently based. Heavily influenced by the sound of 'The Big Three', the three pinnacle American cities that laid the foundations of house and techno (Chicago, Detroit and New York), Prosumer is a selector who has had decades of time and experience sifting through the shelves at Hardwax and hunting for records in the way only wax collectors know how.
With a rigorous touring schedule that has involved recent slots at many of the greatest clubs in the world, including Berghain/Panorama Bar, The Dance Tunnel, Sankeys, Chalet and Rex Club, together with a back catalogue that includes releases on Ostgut Ton, Playhouse, Potion and Running Back, Prosumer has become a favourite of many fans all over the globe. His Fabric 79 CD is a perfect microcosm of what Achim is all about, blending 80s and 90s classics with cutting edge, upfront material from all his own favourites. Expect a bumpy ride of low slow movers before your senses begin to tingle with some proper heads down eyes closed tackle.
