Camp Bestival is the sister festival of one of the most popular music festivals in the UK, having been offering family friendly festival fun since 2008, whilst also offering exciting popular and electronic music in a feat similar to its bigger brother, Bestival.
Taking place from the 30th July to 2nd August at Lulworth Castle in Dorset, Camp Bestival is curated by the same team behind Bestival’s award winning entertainment programmes. Rob Da Bank and Josie have won a number of accolades for Camp Bestival and Bestival since their inaugural years, with this festival winning Best Family Festival at the UK Festival Awards last year. This dream team are responsible for the hugely varied, exciting and fresh list of activities, sideshows and of course music that will be taking place at Camp Bestival in 2015, with en emphasis on the fact that there will be something for everyone with this year's theme taking the festival into "the wild".
Looking towards the music, Camp Bestival will be hosting a number of the same artists who will be playing at Bestival this year, including dance legends Underworld, Kate Tempest and DJ Yoda, however there will be a heap of other bands, DJs and solo artists playing exclusively at Camp Bestival. Clean Bandit, The Kaiser Chiefs, Professor Green, Wretch 32, Bob Geldof, Soul II Soul, Alison Moyet and Slave will all be performing live, whilst the likes of David Rodigan, Norman Jay, Artwork, Ralph Lawson, Rob Da Bank and Terry Hall of The Specials will also be DJing across the weekend.
Comedy from Marcus Brigstoke, Matt Richardson and Kerry Goldiman amongst others will ensure your sides are splitting, whilst theatre shows and art installations provided by worldwide productions and artists will ensure the imaginative minds of all ages are stretched and taken to new places. There will be a number of spoken word artists, authors and talks also taking place as well as an endless amount of food on offer from award winning vendors and chefs.
Kids entertainment is also a big part of Camp Bestival as it aims to bring masses of fun for all ages in equal amounts. There will be dedicated areas like The Upper Kid’s Garden and a Toddlers Area, all adorned with activities and things to do such as face painting, bouncy castles, soft play tents, sandpits, kids catwalks, fairground rides and more. There will be a number of children performers at Camp Bestival including Mr Tumble, Dick and Dom and The Cat In The Hat Live, not to mention camping experiences, giving kids the chance to learn how to make campfires, carve wood and have pictures takes with owls or falcons.
It’s very apparent that Camp Bestival will provide a weekend full of fun and frolics, whoever you are. Whether it’s music, dancing, playing or prancing you’re there to do, you’ll be doing it in a sizeable portion.
