House and techno stalwart Carl Cox has announced that 2016 will be the final year he holds his weekly residency at Space Ibiza. Since the year 2001, Tuesday nights at Playa D’en Bossa’s most notorious nightclub have been under the command of Carl Cox, who has brandished some incredible line ups at the club over the years.
Having been voted The Worlds Best Club a handful of times whilst the British DJ has held his residency there, his contribution towards the success of Space Ibiza is undeniable. Although the club will still have the likes of Richie Hawtin, Elrow and Kehakuma as residents, it can’t be ignored that without Music Is Revolution on a Tuesday night, it just won’t be the same.
Cox’s performances at the club are consistently energetic and he might be the only DJ who can still get away with using a microphone midway through a performance, as his signature ‘Oh Yes, Oh Yes’ still makes its way out of the Funktion One’s at Space every week whilst he plays in either the main room or terrace.
After the 2015 season that saw the likes of Loco Dice, Tania Vulcano, Matthias Tanzmann, Adam Beyer, Carl Craig, tINI, Reboot, Marco Carola, Pan-Pot and Nicole Moudaber all playing throughout the club as all its 5 rooms were regularly open, it has set a standard as high as ever for the final season that will be beginning in May 2016.
All that’s left to question are two things. Just who will replace Carl Cox’s Tuesday night slot at Space Ibiza next year and where on The White Isle, if it all, will Carl take his infamous brand of bouncy tech house to next..?
