This Friday, Circular returns to Mint Warehouse for their second show to see everyone off into what we hope will be a warm summer. After the first sell out event that saw Ben Pearce, Hot Since 82 and Route 94 playing to a heaving main room, Circular have this month employed one of the most consistently good house music labels to host a showcase, headlined by label boss Will Saul and the fast rising duo Dusky. We are of course talking about Aus Music.
Since their first releases, Aus Music have gone forward with the intention of releasing good quality music regardless of the genre or style and they have since gained a plethora of great EP’s that have been championed by many DJs across the globe. With their records featuring a hefty amount of well-loved producers such as Bicep, Breach, Tom Demac, Midland, Deetron, Leon Vynehall and this Friday’s headliners, Aus’ music will no doubt be heavily welcomed by Circular’s crowd at Mint Warehouse.
Will Saul, the founder of Aus Music (as well as its sister label Simple Records) is the first of the two headliners who over the years he has been climbing the musical ladder has gained an impressive collection of releases, having remixed the likes of Scuba, Little Dragon, Appleblim, Pearson Sound, Solomun and The Juan Maclean to name just a few. As an A&R, as we have just mentioned, he has put together one of the best British house music labels there is, with a large number of both vinyl and digital releases going strength to strength. Finally, as a DJ Will has a reputation as being a show-stealing performer and you can be sure he will be bringing the noise at Circular this week.
The second headliner who will be spearheading music proceedings this Friday will be British duo Dusky. Hailing from London the pair shot to being one of the most talked about acts in underground music after their huge single in 2012, Flo Jam. Being played by everyone from Boddika to Calvin Harris, it was one of the biggest house singles of the year and since then their records have been in many DJ’s record bags. With releases on Dogmatik, Anjunadeep, Dirtybird and of course Aus Music, Dusky have gained fans in all corners of house music as their ability to produce music of many styles is widely apparent.
In Room 2, Leftwing & Kody as well as James Welsh will be bringing the noise alongside residents from local nights Deep Fever and Loco. Leftwing & Kody have also been gaining popularity quickly as their garage infected house rhythms have been satisfying the needs of dance floors all over the globe. James Welsh is also a name that many will be familiar with, having remixed huge artists such as Depeche Mode and Rob Zombie. His debut release ‘Air Valley’, which was released on Losing Suki was played by many reputable performers such as Gilles Peterson, Jimpster and Ben Westbeech. Finally, across the courtyard in The Boiler Room will be King Size Recordings, another local brand who’s parties at Leeds’ favourite pre party destination Distrikt have proved popular, bringing the likes of Yousef and Sam Russo to headline their events.
