The last ever Space Ibiza compilation was released this week, with Carl Cox, Pig & Dan, and Mark Brown on selection duties for the 2016 edition of the Cr2 Records compilation. With the world famous club approaching its final night before shutting its doors for good, Cr2 have brought together some of the club’s most important contributors in order to immortalise the spirit of the Ibiza haunt. Tracks from 1989 through 2016 take up positions in the 44 strong tracklist, with artists such as Jamie xx, Pan Pot, Brian Cid, Nile Rodgers, Drumcomplex and Nicole Moudaber among those whose tracks were selected.
Encapturing the euphoria of Space at its peak, the three mixes each demonstrate the signature sounds of their curator, all of whom have become inextricably tied to the Space brand. As the main man in Music Is Revolution, Carl Cox has been behind one of Space’s most successful and cherished nights, whilst fellow Space residents Pig & Dan have been responsible for the famous party atmosphere for many a year. As a regular guest and the boss of Cr2 Records, Mark Brown too has become easily identified as part of the Space furniture, and makes a fitting last participant in a mix series that he has contributed to on several previous occasions.
Space closes down at the end of this summer with September 20th’s Music is Revolution - The Final Chapter being the final chance to enjoy the legendary night at one of the world’s best nightclubs. The compilation celebrates the institution’s extraordinary 27 year legacy, and can be bought from the cr2 website, with tickets for the last Music is Revolution series still available.
