Dancehall Science branched out from Wire to take up residency at HiFi back in February, and for their next event they’ve invited an impressive entourage of lab partners to assist in their dub experiments. Their next demonstration of sound system culture is set to go down May 20th.
Turn your attention to thoughts of reggae and dub and you could be forgiven for not conjuring up a picture of rainy Scotland, but Mungo’s Hi Fi is proud to be the exception. The Glaswegian sound system, production team and puppeteers behind the Scotch Bonnet label have been the lifeblood of Glesga’s dancehall scene since the early years of the millennium, and happily return to Leeds to help out another integral foundation in the UK sub scene, as they join Dancehall Science (Subdub) at Hi Fi Club. The Mungo’s DJs are well-loved proponents of the freshest dubbed out reggae, dubstep and dancehall, so expect nothing less than the best UK subs and riddims.
Hi Fi loves a live set, and Naram steps up to take on the challenge this time round, bringing a heady combination of slow-paced dancehall percussion and bright melodic dressings. Joining him but this time putting needles on wax, Dancehall Science residents Danny T & Tradesman will continue to plug UK Steppas as they mix together a combination of modern reggae branches with their 80s and 90s roots.
Exodus aka Subdub founder and central pillar of the Leeds music scene Simon Scott will also lend his hand to another of his standout nights, alongside the MC talents of Urban Vox.
