The O2 Academy Leeds will be hosting Digital Society’s 9th Birthday on Friday the 5th of February. Having been throwing the biggest trance parties in the UK for nearly a decade, it wouldn’t be a birthday without a stint in their spiritual home of Leeds.
Along for the ride this year that will be spread over O2 Academy’s two rooms, which amounts to a capacity of 2500, will be three of the most internationally recognised British DJs from the world of trance. Those are Gareth Emery, Paul Oakenfold and John O’Callaghan. In room 2 partygoers will be treated to sounds from the revered record label, In Trance We Trust.
Looking toward the main stage, we first have Gareth Emery. The Hampshire born producer and DJ who now lives in LA is the head honcho of the Garuda music label and has recently mixed the Electric For Life CD, which was released earlier this month. Paul Oakenfold is a veteran of the British dance music scene. Having been active in all party of the music industry, with his own music having been championed in the charts and amongst the underground he is one of the most season professionals out there. Here he will be playing a ‘Full On Fluoro’ set, taking the name from his radio show, which goes out every month. The final headliner is John O’Callaghan. John hails from Ireland and is the spearhead of the Subculture imprint, which hosted Digital Society’s November show back in 2014.
Joining these three British trance stalwarts in the main room will be a further rally of the genres hottest artists including Sean Tyas, Super8 & Tab, Ben Gold, Luke Bond, Standerwick and Gavyn Mitchell. Menno De Jong’s In Trance We Trust label will be hosting room two with special guest Alex M.O.R.P.H, not to mention Mark Sherry, Adam Ellis, Johan Ekman, David Rust, Alex Ryan and Paul Pearson.
