A few weeks ago we were treated to the news that The Garden Party will be returning to The Faversham this year to bring us a trio of exciting new school DJs in Skream, Jasper James and George Fitzgerald. As always, this isn’t the end of the summer celebrations for the series of Garden Party terrace dates, as the part two announcements has just arrived, and it’s huge.
This second instalment will be taking place at The Faversham’s bigger brother in clubbing and outdoor frolics, Canal Mills. This event will see a new area opening up at the club to provide 2 outdoor stages dubbed ‘The Hangar’ and ‘The Yard’. The proceedings will start here on Sunday the 29th of May, with outdoor music playing through to 10pm, before the rabble of hungry partygoers will head on in to Canal Mills’ main room, which again has a cosy second stage, ensuring lots of places to explore throughout the day and night.
The line up for this one is by far one of the most exciting Leeds has welcomed for some time. 1 city debut, a stalwart of techno, local favourites and classic Garden Party bookings who they couldn’t say no to bringing back. Headlining the affair will be Pampa Records spearhead DJ Koze, who hasn’t played in Leeds since the Kompakt showcase 7 years ago. This is by far the most exciting DJ appearance for Leeds this year and it will take some beating. Koze’s beautifully emotive style of techno that has become synonymous with his Pampa label is heralded all over the world, with tracks like XTC and his incredible remix of Herbert’s It’s Only being some of the most impressive electronic tracks of recent years.
Joining Koze will be the Bicep boys, who have been close friends to The Garden Party for many years. They never fail to put on a show and clash together the worlds of garage and house in an inimitable style, tops off to boot. Innervision’s Âme will also be appearing, another close associate of this knees up who have had him almost every year in the past five, and for good reason. Mind Against will be making their Leeds debut on May 29th, to add to the pattern of deep, moody techno that seems to be developing with this line up. There will no doubt be a sea of closed eyes and mind-bending moments as this duo from Italy favour progression and synth heavy climax.
The last but by no means least guest DJs on this hefty line up are Panorama Bar resident Ryan Elliott, as well as PBR Streetgang, who have also just come off the back of their first appearance playing at Berlin’s techno temple. This is one to get excited about. They will be joined by a hand picked selection of esteemed local talent including Garden Party residents Matt Long, The Sonic Emporium and Grainger, with Audio Chronicles, Christian Maiden, ALTER and On Rotation also providing their own residents.
As well as long line of DJs playing over 16 hours, there will also be food and drink vendors to quench your thirst and hunger. These including Longhorn’s BBQ, Sela Piza, Northern Bloc, Golden Balls, the 808 Whisky Bar, the Hedonist Project and a craft beer bar.
