DJ Mag will be handed the keys to London’s Egg on Saturday 24th of September, and they’ve decided to bring in Dutch house heads Detroit Swindle as the attention-grabbing headline booking. Backed by a set from Recloose as well as more as of yet unnamed guests, the show will offer up a huge helping of upbeat house from the depths of some very well-stocked music collections.
As heads of the strongly characterised Heist imprint, Detroit Swindle have been responsible for a big selection of likeminded musical offerings, with bright, punchy rhythms, warm synths and unmistakable funk sensibilities. Supporting the likes of Fouk, Ouer, Max Graef, Brame & Hamo, M.ono etc., the label has helped Detroit Swindle rise as a priority booking for parties across the globe, with their loosely strung sounds giving their tracks a relaxed vibe despite their firm dancefloor focus.
Whilst the Dutch duo might only draw association with Detroit by means of their name, Recloose himself is a native of the Motor City, and will bring with him a record bag full of the jazz-flavours that mark much of the city’s musical output. A lover of brass-infused, groove-blessed house, Recloose will line up with the Heist lads with grandeur. Just like his good friend Carl Craig, whose Planet E Communications label has released many of Recloose’s top tracks, the Detroiter will undoubtedly draw a significant crowd as he takes to London once again.
With Wolf Music and more names still to come, DJ Mag looks to be onto a winner.
