Mint Warehouse with its three rooms, Funktion One sound and outdoor terrace is back for the first in a series of upcoming Mint Warehouse Presents events showcasing some of the biggest acts in electronic music on September 8th, headlined by DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, D’Julz and Darius Syrossian with local promotions Nest, In: Vision and Joes Bakery hosting two other rooms.
DJ Sneak is the original house gangster and a Chicago house pioneer. His tough, jacking style takes cues from everything from Latin music to salsa, arriving on labels like Be As One, Desolat, Cecille, his own Manetic, Xmix and many more. As well as DJing around the world, Sneak has also mixed it up for the illustrious fabric series as well as NRK’s Back in the Box – few people do house music quite like this man.
Tonight Sneak will be going b2b for 6 hours with his great old friend Doc Martin who rarely ever plays in this country, so what a special event this will be. If there was a house DJ in America who could accurately claim to be the most important house DJ working today, it would be Doc. But then, he would never accept such a title even if it happens to be true, because Doc is not only a legendary talent but a legendarily humble man who has mixed it up for fabric, released on Obsessive, Classic, NRK and many more influential labels.
Leeds legend Darius Syrossian (who has an upcoming remix called 'Gem Atkins - Pushin on" coming out on Sneaks Magnetic label this month) ran a vinyl store in the city for years so has an unrivalled knowledge of house music from all eras. As a producer, his tech house vibe is one loved by the likes of Heidi (who signed Darius to her recent Jackathon comp) but also Steve Lawler who holds him as one of the key cogs in his VIVa Music wheel. As such, Darius plays everywhere from WMC to Sankeys to both Americas so is a revered guest indeed.
And so to room two hosted by top local underground parties Nest and In: Vision who between them in Leeds have hosted everyone from Coat of Arms to Tale of Us and DJ Deep via Adam Shelton, Frank Roger plus many more over the last year. The room will be headlined by Jack Wickham, Hugo Blackburn, Stephen Jewitt, Charlie Myers and Ali Scott as well as D’Julz. Whether it’s through his productions, radio shows, compilations, parties or club sets, D'Julz has been at the forefront of electronic music since his career first began back in 1992. A firm DJ and fan favourite alike, his ability to transcend genres and trends has seen him hold one of the most consistent levels of success of any modern day DJ/Producer. A run of form that is at its strongest, today as witnessed by the success story of his label Bass Culture Records.
