Download 2016 lineup takes shape

Download 2016 lineup takes shape

Download Festival have just announced the first wave of artists who will be taking to Donington Park next year, with the festival set to take place on Friday 10th to Sunday the 12th of June.

Download 2016

Friday at Download 2016 will see the award winning German Neue Deutcsche Härte band Rammstein putting in a headline performance. Branded at the forefront of ‘new German hardness’, the multi lingual group is revered for its live shows that look just as good as they sound, with a long line of award nominations including Grammy’s cementing their reputation as one of the best rock bands in Europe. Also headlining Download’s other stages on Friday will be Korn and Motörhead, with the likes of Twin Atlantic, Fort Hope, The Amity Affliction, Counting Days, Gutterdammerung, Havok, Killswitch Engage and Skillet also appearing throughout the day.

Saturday will be spearheaded by British metal legends Black Sabbath, who will be playing at the festival as part of their final ever tour. The Deftones and Megadeth will also be headlining Download’s other stages with a host of other artists and band set to play alongside them. These include Architects, Atreyu, Beartooth, Black Foxxes, Dead!, Down, Lawnmower Deth, Rival Sons, Milk Teeth, Neck Deep, Skindred and TesseracT.

Download’s final day will see another one of the greatest metal bands of all time descending on Donington Park, Iron Maiden. As pioneers of British heavy metal, Iron Maiden have released a huge back catalogue of praised material, with their most recent album The Book Of Souls being voted one of the best albums of the year. They will headline Sunday at Download with Nightwish and Disturbed, with the likes of Attila, Billy Talent, Breaking Benjamin, Delain, Don Brocco, Frank Carter, Ghost, Gojira, Halestorm, Ho9909, Saxon, Shinedown and Tremonti also performing.

There are still a huge number of bands to be announced with this just scratching the surface, however this alone will be enough to tempt any fan to the spiritual home of rock, Donington Park, in June next year.
