The London based grime label Butterz has released a new compilation titled Grime 2015.
The album contains two discs and a total of 38 tracks selected by Butterz label owners Elijah & Skilliam, both of whom, along with the label, have been credited for the revival of instrumental grime during the past few years. Here we see the focus move away from the instrumental style in an effort to highlight the vocal side of the genre.
The double CD compilation brings together a selection of tracks spread throughout the past few years, with a number of prominent grime MCs including Skepta, JME, Double E, Wiley, Riko Dan, P Money and Kano all appearing. In feat with the vast variety of vocalists, there is also a diverse selection of producers, with the likes of Plastician, Pinch, Mumdance, Terror Danjah, Zomby and Rabit behind a number of the tracks, not to mention staple Butterz artists Royal-T and Swindle.
Much anticipation is surrounding Elijah & Skilliam’s grime night Jamz, which will be returning in 2016. Following on from a huge year that seen them throw some of the best parties across Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, welcoming guests such as Flava D and Swindle, Jamz is certainly one to get down to in the new year.
