With many still feeling the buzz from this month's Hideout Festival, everybody's eyes are firmly set on their next festival of the summer. For those of you all booked for Unknown Festival as your next, you may have quite the wait but Butter Side Up are here to fill the void with their official Unknown warm up party next month.
Quickly becoming renown for securing lengthy sets from some of the most respected DJs around (the likes of Hunee and Floating points having both graced the 1s and 2s for 4 hour sessions this year), Butter Side Up this time bring one of Australia's most loved exports – besides Fosters and BBQ shrimp that is... – to Leeds for an extended 3 hour set; Fantastic Man aka Mic Newman.
Hailing from Melbourne and a family of strong musicians, Mic's focus on electronic music along with the work of DJs/producers such as Lewie Day aka Tornado Wallace have put Australia firmly on the house radar. With a string of releases on the likes of Wolf Music, Melbourne Deepcast, Kolour LTD, Fina Records, Freerange, Murmur Records and more, Fantastic Man has built a strong of following amongst selectors and fans alike. Check out some of our favourites below.
Having not played in the city in years, Mic's return to Leeds and the confines of the Wire basement for an extended 3 hour set (on a relatively quiet weekend of the usually over-hectic Leeds calendar) has been more than well received and already the party is set up to continue BSU's trend of success for 2013.
We advise grabbing your tickets whilst you can (below) and if you're going to be over in Croatia for Unknown come September, be sure to keep an eye and ear out for the “bovine beats and buttery basslines” of the Butter Side Up clan. Unknown Festival tickets can be purchased here.
