Do Not Sleep Ibiza
Vista Club, Privilidge, Ibiza
Sunday 19th July
Do Not Sleep is now well under way in Ibiza and is seriously turning heads. It is a fresh, exciting young night with a fine booking policy that marries the energy of its residents Darius Syrossian, Sante and Sydney Charles with the legendary headline likes of, tonight for example, Dennis Ferrer.
Taking place in Vista at Privilege, the backdrop for the club is the gorgeous Ibiza landscape nestled between San Antonio and Playa Del Bossa. Importantly, the sound system is a fine Funktion One that means every single beat is crystal clear from the moment we arrive. Extra production, lights, lasers and banners all hang down and add to the atmosphere as a friendly mix of girls, boys, young party people and old ravers all mingle happily together on the floor.
As the US star Dennis Ferrer steps up, people serge towards the DJ booth, which has dancers all around it and really is the centre point of the room. He moves about with lots of energy and lays down chunky house beats, diva vocals and plenty of rich melody that really gets people worked into a frenzy. People clamber on staging and fist bump and punch the air and it truly is absorbing.
After that, the back to back to back trio of residents step up and really soak in the adoration of the crowd. They all play an on point selection of tech house that keeps people hooked well into the early morning. The DJs hand down beers to party people at the front, and as one does the mixing two egg us on. There are classics, new beats and some curveballs along the way and it makes for a riotous night.
As the sun begins to come up and filter through the windows, things don’t slow down and dancers remain right until the last beat. Do Not Sleep seems like a natural new place for Darius and his mates to call home and tonight they laid down a house masterclass that would have got anyone up and off their feet. This night is also a boost for Privilege and adds a welcome bit of underground quality to their regular roster alongside other great new nights like Hard Times. All in all, it is an essential place to visit in 2015.
