Since just October 2009 FACE has truly established itself as one of the countries finest underground events, featuring brilliant DJs weekly at The Rainbow Warehouse in Birmingham. Now 4 years later, on the 19th of October they are having a birthday bash not to miss. Brilliantly selected, Apollonia, Detroit Swindle, Krystal Klear and Citizen will be celebrating the night along with a much-anticipated crowd of Birmingham ravers.
Get ready for the French invasion as label owners and back-to-back-to-back DJ outfit Shonky, Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom (aka Apollonia) head the bill. Describing their sound as "black music and white soul" they're storming the big clubs around Europe this autumn, starting at Amsterdam, with the next big gig being FACE’s 4th birthday.
Consisting of Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets, Detroit Swindle may not originate from the motor city but their
productions, often described as contemporary interpretations of classic soul tracks with melodical grooves, jazzy chords and bumpy basslines, stir up thoughts of Detroit legends including the likes of Marcellus Pittman, Theo Parrish, Moodymann et al. With the recent superb EP Detroit Swindle - Break up to make up, you know they will get the crowd dancing where ever they are.
Known for his unashamed love of playful 80’s boogie Krystal Klear continues to push these funkadelic, fun, four-on-floor sounds through his sets and most recent remixes - not least in his upcoming Donna Summer remix (out 22nd October).
Citizen being the final piece to this unforgettable lineup brings memories of the past glory of early 90s House music. Even though 90s house music is thrown around a lot these days, Laurence Blake has the talent of maintaining the simplistic pure tones and is a aperfect addition to the bill.
