Life is always better with a soundtrack, and time spent hard at work in the office is no different. Therefore, coming your way every Tuesday will be album of the week; a release we can't contain our excitement for or a record we have been reluctant to take off repeat since its first play. We’ll be putting the time in to explore the world of new releases on a quest to bring you the best. While we’re at it, just because we’re feeling generous, we’ll be digging deep into our collections and giving classic albums the airplay they deserve.
(Migration is released on Friday 13th January)
The first TA Album Of The Week entry of 2017 hasn’t wandered too far from the peripherals since its announcement toward the tail end of last year. Simon Green, aka Bonobo, has built up the reputation as one of most attentive producers in the game since announcing himself with in the early 2000s. With a knack for drawing together sounds from opposing hemispheres and fusing them together with a percipient level of care, the Brighton native’s productions detail introspective emotion and experience, masterfully brought to life through personal instalments of musical recollection.
Time for album number six; Migration – released Friday 13th January. Here Bonobo makes the smart decision to not stray too far from his clinical formula. With guest appearances from Nick Murphy (formerly Chet Faker) and Rhye in store, Migration shows off Bonobo’s signature style of breakbeat and hip-hop infused instrumentals, ornately topped off with exotic samples garnered from all four corners of the planet.
A collection of new tales, told in vintage Bonobo fashion; Migration ticks all the boxes for those who know what to expect from the LA based producer.
