Here at Ticket Arena, we like to keep our eyes peeled - and more importantly our ears to the ground for the freshest releases, which is why our office speakers are constantly soundtracking our hard day’s work with some of the newest sounds out there. We’re here to share our favourites, as every Monday we’re committed to delivering our Album Of The Week, featuring the albums that caught our attention, the artists that deserve the recognition and simply put, the absolute bops that made us move. An entire decade has passed since the release of Caribou's breakthrough album
Swim garnered the producer deserved attention and critical acclaim. Having released a steady stream of records of similar standard and continuing to uphold a reputation as one of the most interesting and intriguing producers in existence by doing so, Dan Snaith returns with yet another beguiling insight into his soundscape. Teasing listeners with the soulful single ‘Home’ weeks prior, Caribou’s themes for
Suddenly were heavily hinted at, as the continuous references to home and family life throughout are less than subtle. Not only through the track titles (‘Sister’, ‘You and I’, ‘Like I Loved You’ and ‘Home’ being the paramount examples), but through the lyrics and ambient, meandering beats themselves. Caribou is something of a musical alchemist, channelling complex production into music that feels child-like and innocent, with piano melodies juxtaposed with broken, disjointed beats and samples.
