Album Of The Week: Crazy P - Age Of The Ego

Album Of The Week: Crazy P - Age Of The Ego

With the sweetest of sounds coming from the speakers of the Ticket Arena office it would be mighty selfish of us to keep them to ourselves, so we thought we’d let you in on what our staff use to soundtrack a hard day’s work. Now a weekly feature with the intent of bringing your attention to wonderful new sounds every Tuesday, our Album Of The Week looks at releases from the best in the game, whether fresh new acts about to hit the big time or established artists reminding the world of their continued talent. Simply put, it’s just the best in music that we think you should hear.

Known for their unique take on the house and disco genres, Crazy P have continuously refined such since their mid 90s inception, with their latest release Age Of The Ego highlighting their polished sound. The outfit are well known for their shimmering disco and foot-stomping funk combined with pulsating house beats, topped off with ethereal vocals from Danielle Moore, this time, though, they’ve tinted all of the above with politically charged messaging so there’s more to take in than just their overwhelming sound. A commentary on our social-media obsessed society is highlighted in ‘Witness’ with “The robots are in power” lyrics ringing out their staple electro funk - who knew a narrative on our problematic generation could be so enjoyable?

Crazy P bring their sound system to this year’s edition of Parklife Festival, taking place at Manchester’s Heaton Park between Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June.
