Album Of The Week: Fredo - Survival Of The Fittest

Album Of The Week: Fredo - Survival Of The Fittest

With the sweetest of sounds coming from the speakers of the Ticket Arena office it would be mighty selfish of us to keep them to ourselves, so we thought we’d let you in on what our staff use to soundtrack a hard day’s work. Now a weekly feature with the intent of bringing your attention to wonderful new sounds every Tuesday, our Album Of The Week looks at releases from the best in the game, whether fresh new acts about to hit the big time or established artists reminding the world of their continued talent. Simply put, it’s just the best in music that we think you should hear.

London rapper Fredo has garnered quite the reputation recently, and not only among the ever growing grime scene in which he’s a big part of, but also having gained more mainstream radio airplay and taking on stages at multi-genre festivals, his name is frequently on the lips of those in the know. Following the release of a string of singles such as ‘BMT’ and ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ (both of which feature), Fredo’s long awaited debut album is here and Third Avenue is everything that the teaser tracks promised it would be. With thirteen tracks offering the coldest of beats serving a base for his unrivalled bars telling tales of his life, this record delivers a truly honest insight into the rapper’s battle with the law. Having previously collaborated on track ‘Funky Friday’ gaining a UK number one last year, fellow rapper Dave features on single ‘All I Ever Wanted’, showcasing their complimentary rapping abilities. Listen to Third Avenue via Spotify below.

Fredo has a busy festival schedule ahead, firstly taking on Annie Mac’s Malta festival Lost & Found which takes over St Paul’s Bay between Thursday 2nd and Monday 6th May then delivering his bars to crowds in Manchester as he’ll be headed to Parklife’s Sounds Of The Near Future stage on Saturday 8th June alongside Earl Sweatshirt, Loyle Carner, Slowthai and more.
July sees the rapper perform at the incredible Wireless Festival and August Bank holiday hosts Fredo at Leeds Festival at Bramham Park.
