With the sweetest of sounds coming from the speakers of the Ticket Arena office it would be mighty selfish of us to keep them to ourselves, so we thought we’d let you in on what our staff use to soundtrack a hard day’s work. Now a weekly feature with the intent of bringing your attention to wonderful new sounds every Tuesday, our Album Of The Week looks at releases from the best in the game, whether fresh new acts about to hit the big time or established artists reminding the world of their continued talent. Simply put, it’s just the best in music that we think you should hear.
If you thought we’d let this little tasty EP slip through our radar, you were fortunately mistaken. Released on their REALM imprint, huge electronic duo Gorgon City dropped an EP in early December, teasing fans for what’s to come on their iminent Kingdom album release. With pulsating rhythms, rolling basslines and carefully structured chord sequences that are enough to rouse anybody out of their seat, as well as a remix from none other than Special Request aka Paul Woolford, Groove In The Vinyl showcases the versatility of Matt and Kye. Only four tracks and the London duo still manage to transform 22 minutes of prog house into a journey that’ll cause your body to move to the grooves. Try to listen without so much as tapping your feet, go on, we dare you.
Gorgon City head to The Rainbow Venues in Birmingham on Easter Thursday 29th March before taking their Kingdom Tour to London’s O2 Academy Brixton on Saturday 31st March.
