With the sweetest of sounds coming from the speakers of the Ticket Arena office it would be mighty selfish of us to keep them to ourselves, so we thought we’d let you in on what our staff use to soundtrack a hard day’s work. Now a weekly feature with the intent of bringing your attention to wonderful new sounds every Tuesday, our Album Of The Week looks at releases from the best in the game, whether fresh new acts about to hit the big time or established artists reminding the world of their continued talent. Simply put, it’s just the best in music that we think you should hear.
Those eagle-eyed among us will notice that Joe Goddard’s Electric Lines took the Album Of The Week slot shortly after its release in April, but since the producer has added another trio of tracks, extending the project by twenty more minutes and creating a bonus edition of the record, it definitely deserves to be here again. Responsible for keys and vocals in the indie and dance music crossover outfit Hot Chip, Goddard continues to mess with the boundaries of genres on his eclectic solo projects, with this 2017 release being no exception. Adding on track ‘Lasers’ which features vocals from Zoee and bars from Mr Lexx, with it’s stabbing electronic beats and contagious hooks, as well as the mighty layered dance-able track ‘After Dark’ which totals at near ten minutes of pulsating rhythms - Goddard has managed to improve on what was already an incredible album.
Joe Goddard will be taking to Liverpool’s Invisible Wind Factory for a massive ENRG takeover, alongside Jon Hopkins as well as Blehrin on Friday 30th March.
