With the sweetest of sounds coming from the speakers of the Ticket Arena office it would be mighty selfish of us to keep them to ourselves, so we thought we’d let you in on what our staff use to soundtrack a hard day’s work. Now a weekly feature with the intent of bringing your attention to wonderful new sounds every Tuesday, our Album Of The Week looks at releases from the best in the game, whether fresh new acts about to hit the big time or established artists reminding the world of their continued talent. Simply put, it’s just the best in music that we think you should hear.
Hip hop rapper MIST has been a name on the lips of a lot of fans of the genre; with the majority of UK rap coming out of the capital city and its surrounding areas, MIST has broken down barriers as one of the sole emcees to breakout of the very core of the country with his hometown being Birmingham. Taking a leaf out of the books from US rap as opposed to the grime genre that’s taken the British airwaves by Storm(zy), MIST tells honest tales of his life experiences, with references to his late mother, jail time and a desire to use music to better his daughter’s life are all included in his slower flows and vocal-sample heavy sounds. A sound that makes up his debut studio album, released via Sickmade Records, as the nine track project showcases what gained MIST such a fanbase in the first place.

MIST tells his listeners that he was “born to perform” and so you can expect a busy schedule ahead for the Birmingham-based emcee. He’ll be at Malta’s Lost & Found, Croatia’s Hideout, Outlook and Dimensions, and back in the UK he’ll be hitting Brighton’s The Great Escape, London’s sold-out Wireless and the August Bank Holiday sees MIST take on Leeds Festival at Wetherby’s Bramham Park.
