Championed by an incredible number of DJs including Skream, Groove Armada and Busy P, as well as Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Eats Everything on BBC Radio 1, the mysterious Demi Riquisimo is hotly tipped to be one of the summer’s most exciting names. With his new EP dropping on Semi Delicious next month, and a set at El Dorado Festival to look forward to in June, we asked Demi to put together some of his favourite festival tracks as a taste of what to expect when you find yourself on his dance floor this summer...
Radio Morocco (Jonny Rock Edit)
A fantastic Moroccan-infused house and disco cut which I can really relate to in the way of my latest track 'Tagine Machine' which is forthcoming on Semi Delicious.
Cody Currie Dynamite (Disco Mix)
A great deep disco groover which will fill any festival dance floor.
Demi Riquísimo - Vernon
One of my favourite tracks of mine to play out as the balance between driving drums and bass and familiarity (in terms of the disco sample) is just right for the peak time dancefloor
Kincaid feat. Blancmange - Big Fat Head (Club Mix) // Disco Halal
One for when I want to get a bit darker on the dance floor. Produced by my friend Kincaid (Who also does all my Semi Delicious artwork and animation) featuring his father, 80's Rock legend Blancmange. Proggy drums and a resonating bassline, along with a haunting vocal.
Ghetto Chords - Get On Up
The definition of a daytime festival stage. The Nest Stage at El Dorado comes to mind.
UNKNOWN ARTIST - UNTITLED B (DISCO EDITS VOL 1) (DISC COMPANY)
Another great Proggy disco number which can be played from start to finish without getting boring.
Kapote - Brasiliko (Giovanni Damico Remix)
A track from one of my fav artists and label (Toy Tonics) at the mo. This particular remix by Giovanni Damico is my pick of the EP.
Demi Riquísimo - Sarong Song
Another one of my tracks that I can use as a tool to change the vibe of the set. Mixed in early on and it goes straight into an 808 kick drum and acid arp, then the disco elements start to get introduced.
Tom Jay - La Belle
A great edit from friend Tom Jay on Axe On Wax. It came out about 6 months ago but will still get used this festival season for sure.
Flamingo Pier - Find Your Way (Earthboogie Remix)
A really originally-produced piece of music which is quite far removed from the original. Deep chords and horn samples switch into broken beats, a conga loop and a sun-soaked vocal. Nice.
