Festival Picks: August 2017

Festival Picks: August 2017

| Features & Interviews

Summer’s running out, so make the most of it! Heading into the last month of sun before autumn comes and reminds us all why we complain about the UK weather, there’s no time like the present for squeezing in a bit of festival action. Here’s what’s on offer for summer’s last stand.

South West Four - SW4
26th-27th August
Clapham Common, London

One of London’s favourite metropolitan festivals, South West Four will bring big hitters like Pendulum, Tinie Tempah, Eric Prydz and Sigma to Clapham Common on the Saturday, with Deadmau5, Marco Carola and Knife Party among Sunday’s headliners. With after parties following at Electric Brixton, SW4 is offering a full weekend of exhilarating music.

Sunfall Festival
Saturday 12th August
Brockwell Park, London

Already established as an outrageously cool festival after only one year in the business, Sunfall has the power to pull together The Black Madonna, Ben UFO, Helena Hauff, Madlib, Theo Parrish and more of the world’s most exciting DJs. Throw Shanti Celeste, Move D, Floating Points and Peggy Gou into the mix and things are looking silly - even before mentioning that Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers will be debuting a first new album in 15 years.

elrow Town London Closing Ceremony
Sunday 20th August
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London

Idris Elba, Jamie Jones b2b Seth Troxler and more will close up elrow Town’s biggest ever UK show, so you can expect a popping party atmosphere from Barcelona’s favourite party animals.

Ska legends bring back their August bank holiday festival for another year of fun at Clapham Common, this time featuring De La Soul, David Rodigan and Craig Charles.

Dimensions Festival
31st August-3rd September
Fort Punta Christo, Croatia

Hailed by all who go as near enough the perfect dance music festival, Dimensions has it all. Perfect setting, unbelievable sound, the very finest bookings and a Croatian summer sun. Nina Kraviz, Nicky Siano, Hessle Audio, DynArec and Moderat are just a few names on the mammoth lineup.

Reach
Saturday 5th August

Who says you need to leave Yorkshire to find the best DJs? Reach celebrates local talent by bringing Vibe Killers, Sizeup, Luke Pompey and more to Lumb Lane.

Reading Festival

Creamfields Ibiza 2017

Moondance Festival
Sunday 6th August
Trent Park, London

Trent Park will host house music from Promised Land ft. Terry Francis, X-Press 2 and Mr C, as well as jungle and old skool courtesy of LTJ Bukem among others. Garage, hard house, bass music and DnB also get plenty of representation.

Moovin Festival
25th-27th August
Etherow Country Park, Stockport

Its magical countryside location immediately marked Moovin out as a potentially wonderful weekend, and with Roy Ayers, Black Grape, Gilles Peterson and Roni Size on the lineup, that has pretty been confirmed. A laid back festival with top quality artists sounds alright to me.

South East Dance Festival
Saturday 26th August
Garon Park, Southend-on-Sea

Hands up if you like old skool; DJ Luck & MC Neat, Artful Dodger, Ratpack and more will be catering to you at Garon Park.

Glasgow gets treated to EDM, trance and the harder side of dance music thanks to Dvbbs, Timmy Trumpet, Andrew Rayel and a whole load more.
