Festival Picks: July 2018

Summer is here, June has brought with it an abundance of great weather and great festival moments and this theme looks set to continue in July as someone of the world’s most exciting festivals take place throughout the UK and all over Europe. We’ve rounded up a few of our top festival picks for July and there’s plenty of amazing music to be experienced in a variety of beautiful settings.

Community Festival
Sunday 1st July
Finsbury Park, London

First up is Community festival, one for the indie crowd. The Finsbury Park one day-er plays host to some of indie rocks biggest sounds. With performances from Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines and Rat Boy to mention but a few, community will be one of the top indie events of the summer.

#MERKY Festival
Monday 2nd & Tuesday 3rd July
Ibiza Rocks Hotel, San Antonio, Ibiza

Next on the calendar is Stormzy’s #Merky festival at Ibiza rocks. The festival curated by Stormzy himself has been upgraded to a two day event for its second year and the line-up features some huge names. Headlined by the man himself support comes from big hitters Krept and Konan as well as J Hus. Further down the bill a selection of chart dominating London centric artists who be looking to bring a bit of the capital to one of Ibiza’s biggest parties this summer.

Wireless Festival
Friday 6th July
Finsbury Park, London

London’s well renowned hip-hop, RnB and grime event is set, once again, to bring some of the world’s biggest artists to perform for those lucky enough to get their hands on tickets. This year Wireless is bringing hip-hop icon J Cole, hometown hero Stormzy and everyone’s favourite instagrammer DJ Khaled as headliners for ‘another one’ in Finsbury Park. Backing them will be Post Malone, Giggs, Migos, J Hus and many more.

Exit Festival
Thursday 12th -  sunday 15th July
Petrovaradin Fortress, Novi Sad, Serbia

Taking place in the famous Petrovaradin Fortress of Novi Sad in Serbia the aptly named Exit festival offers a true European escape from society, a self-proclaimed musical pilgrimage. The line-up is an eclectic mash up of artists stemming from a number of genres. Some of the bigger names performing include David Guetta, Migos, Ziggy Marley and Grace Jones. The festival has a strong undercard of house, techno and electro DJ’s including household names such as Richie Hawtin and Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg as well as underground figureheads such as Rodhad, Midland, Ben Klock and Carl Craig. An inspired list of artists performing in an awe inspiring location, there’s easy to see why Exit won best European festival at the 2017 European festival awards.

Lovebox Festival
Friday 13th & Saturday 14th July
Gunnersbury Park, London

Gunnersbury Park in London will play host to Lovebox festival again this year and they’ve put together yet another impressive line-up, sticking to their usual brand of leftfield hip-hop and RnB with a bit of Grime and House. Big names include man of the moment Childish Gambino, Skepta and NERD as well as hip-hop royalty Wu-Tang Clan. The undercard includes Bonobo, Mura Masa, Anderson .Paak, Dave and Vince Staples as well including a selection of the biggest house DJ names around including Bicep, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Jackmaster.

Hospitality On The Beach
Thursday 12th - Tuesday 16th July
The Garden, Tisno, Croatia

The DnB label and brand is taking it’s very first holiday and takes to the stunning setting of Croatia’s Dalmatian coast for a bruising few days dedicated to the genre. Featuring a three hour set from Andy C, as well as Camo & Krooked, High Contrast, S.P.Y and so much more, all under the scorching sun? Sign us us!

Cocoon In The Park
Saturday 14th July
Temple Newsam, Leeds

Celebrating an entire decade since the inception of the Sven Vath curated and headlined Leeds festival, Cocoon In The Park didn’t hold back on the lineup for their 10th anniversary party. Hosting not only papa Sven himself, but also Apollonia, Tale Of Us, Seth Troxler b2b Craig Richards and a huge triple b2b between Enzo Sirugusa, Archie Hamilton and Rossko, this year’s edition is surely an unmissable feat for house and techno fans alike.

Sunday 15th July
Gunnersbury Park, London

The only UK festival to host Aussie psych legends Tame Impala for a headline slot is bound to be quite the spectacle, but with added performances from the likes of Hawkwind, GOAT, The Horrors, CHVRCHES, Fat White Family, La Femme and more - it’s evident that Citadel know how to build the ultimate list of acts for a day of complimentary genre fusions.

Soundwave Festival
Thursday 26th - Monday 30th July
The Garden, Tisno, Croatia

Another one of Croatia’s Festival offerings, Soundwave have revealed that this year marks their curtain call. As 2018 signals ten years since it’s debut, a headline performance from o-fi hip hop act Loyle Carner is fitting for their grand finale. Also joining is the likes of Mr Scruff, Romare, Jordan Rakei, Submotion Orchestra, Horse Meat Disco and more.

MADE Festival
Saturday 28th July
Perry Park, Birmingham

With the announcement this year that MADE Festival will be moving to Birmingham’s fantastic Perry Park, the festival is celebrating its fifth year by bringing a host of world-class headliners that is sure to build fan interest and hype in the lead up to this large-scale annual event. The highly-anticipated 2018 lineup will feature the likes of grime icon Dizzee Rascal, DJ EZ, Kurupt FM, Camelphat, and many, many more eclectic acts over the span of the day.

Reasons Festival
Saturday 28th July
Coronation Park, Jersey

Reasons Festival has slowly been turning heads, and it’s easy to see why when its previous artist roster includes huge electronic names such as Goldie, DJ Marky, Wilkinson and more. Based on the Channel Island of Jersey, festival-goers can experience this exotic paradise under the sun while enjoying the sound of international DJs across four genre-themed stages, with this year’s lineup confirmed to have Sasha, Roni Size, Claude Vonstroke, Deetron, and many more joining them for what can only be described as being “one hell of a party".
