Festival Picks: July 2019

As a heatwave grips Europe, people are starting to get even more excited about how they might spend their summer breaks, whether that be taking a holiday or dancing the nights away at a festival. July has always been a busy time when it comes to live music events and this year it’s no different with a whole host of vibrant parties.

Given that there are so many tantalizingly good things on offer we thought it would be best to give you the inside track on the ones which need to be on your agenda this month. For another unforgettable festival experience make sure to carry on reading…

Hideout Festival
Mon 1st - Fri 5th July
Zrce Beach, Croatia

Ever came away from a typical festival thinking it wasn’t long enough? Well prepare yourself for a marathon event with Hideout. This festival, which is set on the stunning golden white sands of Zrce Beach, provides music lovers with five whole days to see world-class DJs like Flava D, Alan Fitzpatrick and MK whilst revelling in the stunning scenery.

EXIT Festival
Thurs 4th - Sun 7th July
Petrovaradin Fortress, Novi Sad, Serbia

If you want a wonderfully unique setting steeped in history combined with a fantastically diverse lineup then you need to make the trip to the south east corner of Europe. Located within the walls of a former military base, EXIT provides a mystical escape from reality whilst offering the chance to see some of the finest performers including rock legends the Cure, Carl Cox and Skepta.

El Dorado Festival
Fri 5th - Sun 7th July
Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Hertfordshire

There is nothing quite like enjoying your favourite acts inside the walls of a castle. El Dorado also offers a fantastic line up as Kool & the Gang top the bill alongside DnB king Andy C and Purple Disco Machine.

Festival Pal Mundo
Sat 6th July
Arena Park, Amsterdam

If you like music which draws influences from the Caribbean and Latin America then be sure to attend this festival in the Netherlands. Taking to the stage to showcase this distinctive type of music will be Puerto Rico’s Bad Bunny, alongside Wizkid, who is no stranger to monster collaborations, having worked with the likes of Drake and Skepta.

Hospitality On The Beach
Thurs 11th - Mon 15th July
The Garden Resort, Tisno, Croatia

Croatia is becoming a haven for lovers of drum & bass as Hospitality on the Beach returns to the picturesque fishing village of Tisno. This event is once again bringing the biggest names from across the whole spectrum, including Andy C, Logistics and Noisia.

Fri 12th - Sat 13th July
Gunnersbury Park, London

Lovebox has always been a popular event for many over the years, providing a platform for the finest names in rap and house music. 2019 will see another huge selection as 2 Chainz will fly across the pond from America before local boy Giggs, showcases his stellar talents in front of a mic.

Cocoon In The Park
Sat 13th July
Temple Newsam, Leeds

Over ten years ago techno veteran Sven Väth started curating the most mesmerizing line ups and bringing them to Leeds. Across the last decade he has secured some of the most colossal names such as the Martinez Brothers, Adam Beyer and Seth Troxler. Sadly 2019 is to be the end but be sure not to miss this spectacular conclusion with the likes of Eats Everything, Carl Craig and Alan Fitzpatrick stopping by.

Colour Clash 2019
Sat 13th July
Tredegar Park, Newport, Wales

Colour Clash is back and this year the organizers have surpassed themselves bringing some heavyweight acts from multiple genres to this city in south Wales. Pendulum will take the headline slot whilst rap king Skepta will also be in town.

Depot In the Castle
Sat 13th July
Cardiff Castle, Cardiff, Wales

If you like sampling great local food and listening to quality music at the same time then look no further than Depot in the Castle. This event, which caters for the whole family, will play host to Clean Bandit, Tom Odell and Circa Waves amongst others.

Sankey's 25th anniversary
Sat 13th July
Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Manchester
One of the most famous clubbing institutions to emerge out of the North West, will celebrate a very special milestone in spectacular fashion, as Darius Syrossian, Hector Couto and Sam Divine all take to the decks. The DJs will play across four stages, with the party starting outside before action continues under cover.

Sun 14th July
Gunnersbury Park, London
If indie rock is your jam then you might want to make a trip to the capital as the likes of Bastille, Friendly Fires alongside Catfish and the Bottlemen make an appearance. The one-day festival, has garnered a tradition over the years for hosting some of the genre’s finest and the 2019 edition is no different.

Full Moon Med Fest
Fri 19th July
1926 Beach Club, Sliema, Malta
For the clubbers who’ve been to Thailand the full-moon event is regarded as one of the most magical parties on the planet. Well now you can sample this truly fantastic event closer to home with Full Moon Med Fest, situated on the island of Malta.

Sat 20th July
Coronation Park, Jersey

Right on the southern reaches of the United Kingdom is the idyllic island of Jersey. If being surrounded by glorious ocean blues is up your street then you need to pay Reasons a visit. Stopping by during the third weekend in July are some of techno’s finest selectors including Alan Fitzpatrick and B Traits. For those who like music with a higher bpm then don’t forget to catch drum & bass legend Calibre on the Subfactory stage.

Kendal Calling
Thu 25th - Sun 28th July
Lowther Deer Park, Kendal

Award winning and one of the North’s most popular venues for summer celebration, Kendal Calling celebrates 10 years in the Lake District this month. Previous years have seen amazing guests that include the likes of Blondie, Mumford & Sons, Run DMC and many more amongst others. Including a wide range of music genres, from rock to rhythm and blues, house to indie, alongside great alternatives for entertainment, Kendal Calling attracts those from all over the UK who are eager for an exciting weekend ahead.

MADE Festival
Sat 27th July
Perry Park, Birmingham

If you want to stay in this country and are keen to sample the biggest and best from numerous genres then Made has to be an essential event on your summer calendar. Whether it be drum & bass, house or bass line there is a huge act on the line up to showcase each style. Stopping by in Birmingham at the end of the month are Chase & Status, Kings of the Shadows and Solardo plus many more.

Legends In The Park
Sun 28th July
Perry Park, Birmingham
If you want a whole day of the finest music across the past three decades of UK clubland then look no further than Legends in the Park. There will be a whole host of stellar names including trance hero Eddie Halliwell alongside drum & bass royalty in Micky Finn and Randall.

Inner City Live
Sun 28th July
Perry Park, Birmingham
If rock music, local street food and the delightfully green surroundings of Perry Park sound like a perfect cocktail then you need to attend Inner City Live at the end of July. This event promises a big head liner as indie rock band the Doves return to stage following almost a decade away. Also joining them in the West Midlands is former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
