Anyone who’s been out in Leeds understands that this northern city knows how to put on a party, to the soundtrack of nothing but the finest electronic beats. Local clubbing institution MiNT Club, alongside its more recent venue, MiNT Warehouse, has been a purveyor of such sounds to revellers both local and further afield for well over a decade – and now in its sixth year, MiNT Festival is the day-long amalgamation of this thriving Yorkshire night-time brand.
Originally marketed as the ‘last festival of the summer’, its timing hasn’t changed over the years, but it takes place at a new venue in 2017 – a trend which it has continued since its inception. From humble beginnings at Lotherton Hall, Lincolnshire Showground and Wetherby Racecource, as well as taking place in more urban surroundings at The Tetley last year, Mint Festival now calls the rolling fields of Stockeld Estate its home for the thirteen hours it opens this September.
Location-hopping aside, with five stages curated by leading names in electronic music including Hot Since 82, Eats Everything and more, inviting artists such as Sasha, Enzo Sirigusa and Guti to join them, this dance lovers’ day out is sure to keep hips swinging from start to finish and beyond, thanks to the plethora of after parties also on offer. We told you Leeds loves to party.
Ones to watch: The Martinez Brothers
These brothers have crafted their art to create pure dance-floor escapism perfectly. With experience carved from a DC10 residency since 2011, playing at the circus of the dance music world, these performers know exactly how to bring smiles to every raver’s face, thanks to their own brand of raw, energetic cuts that ooze from every set.
Ones to watch: Ricardo Villalobos B2B Raresh
It would be impossible to head to Mint Festival and not spend time at the System tent, proving to be one of the busiest stages in previous years. This respected night has been housed at Mint Club for almost a decade, and its line up in 2017 reflects the stellar selections it so regularly brings to the club. With a whole host of other impressive B2Bs including Seth Troxler and Fabric resident Craig Richards also on offer, it’s hard to pick just one highlight. But this combination of two minimal masters is an absolute must-listen, with their rolling sets treasured by those who have ridden their wave.
