Ibiza 2018 in a nutshell

Ibiza 2018 in a nutshell

Andrew Kemp | Features & Interviews

With so much going on in Ibiza, how are you possibly meant to make head or tail of it? Superclubs galore, beach parties all over the place and that’s even before we start to think about the events going on off land, so we thought we’d round up the best of the best with another handy guide. Here’s our verdict on Ibiza 2018 in a nutshell.

May boasts all night long sets from Dixon, Solomun, Sven Vath, Fatboy Slim and Hot Since 82, so you can already tell that Pacha bring in the absolute biggest artists. Operating famous nights including F*** Me I’m Famous, Pure Pacha, Flower Power and more, there’s something on most days of the week once the season gets underway.

Top Pick: Dixon All Night Long

Es Paradis
Opening up in mid May, Es Paradis welcomes Joey Negro, DJ Spen, Sebastian Gamboa, Brandon Block and Bobby & Steve in the space of one wild weekend, and that’s just the beginning. Famous for its water party as well as the neon lit Glow, Es Paradis will also enjoy new series What The Funk? this summer, with guest DJs bringing groovy house and techno to one of the White Isle’s oldest clubs.

Top Pick: Fiesta del Agua (most Fridays)

In Circoloco and Paradise, DC10 has two of the biggest parties in Ibiza, as you would expect from a club that is known the world over for its underground dance music fiestas. The former aircraft hanger has been a top destination for White Isle dancers for the best part of two decades, and with Jamie Jones returning with the trendiest DJs in house and techno for another season of Paradise, 2018 promises to enhance that reputation further. The Martinez Brothers, Marco Carola, Steve Lawler, Nicole Moudaber, wAFF, KiNK and Tiga are only a handful of the names already confirmed, and with Circoloco lineups still incoming, there’s going to be an abundance of talent at DC10 every weekend this summer.

Top pick: Paradise with Jamie Jones brb Patrick Topping, Art Department, Honey Dijon and more

If you fancy a trip to the world’s largest club, get yourself among the 10,000 strong audience at Privilege. An abundance of nights including Solid Grooves and Resistance will find a home there this summer, and the opening party looks pretty tasty too. The 25th May opening party looks like an excellent start to the summer.

Top Pick: Privilege Opening Party with Faithless (DJ Set), David Morales and more

Ocean Beach Ibiza
Several regular nights are on offer at Ocean Club this summer, with Kisstory, Hed Kandi, ONE, Dreamland and Soul Heaven all bringing their own magic to the S’Arenal waterfront on Ibiza’s West coast. Kisstory’s garage and old skool offerings are particularly worth exploring, as there are few places on the island that consistently bring the distinctive UK sounds to the dancefoor.

Top Picks: Wideboys at Kisstory

ANTS, David Guetta, Tinie Tempah and Martin Garrix are among those getting some killer parties started at Ushuaia, which has events on from 19th May until 29th September. New night Dystopia looks well worth a look, taking darker shades of techno to create an immersive club night experience, whilst guests including Richie Hawtin, Maya Jane Coles, DJ Sneak and Joris Voorn have certainly peaked our interest.

Top Pick: Ushuaïa Opening Party | ANTS Takeover #2 with Richie Hawin, Adam Beyer, Maya Jane Coles and more

Eden Ibiza
Eden has plenty to offer with house influencers Defected holding a Sunday residency and Pukka Up hosting Tropical Wonderland on Saturdays, whilst Bongo’s Bingo on Tuesdays adds a bit of variety to the schedule for those wanting some time off their feet. A real paradise of a venue thanks to its two high-end rooms and perfect sound, Eden lives up to its name and is worth keeping an eye out for lineup announcements in the coming weeks.

Top Pick: Defected in the House, Sundays

Heart Ibiza
Art, music and food combine for an almighty entertainment experience at Heart, with Cirque du Soleil’s founder offering the direction. Set up by two brothers whose elBulli restaurant in Catalonia proudly sports 3 Michelin stars, Heart is one of the top places for foodies on the island, and a welcome new addition to the Ibiza nightlife as well, with live music and house DJs providing the soundtracks deep into the night.

Top Pick: Heart Ibiza Opening Party with Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons, Guy Laliberte and Satori

Hi Ibiza
Hi-profile residencies for Armin van Buuren, Black Coffee, Tale Of Us, Cream and more make Hi Ibiza’s second summer in the business every bit as exciting as the first. Also featuring some of the highest production value of all the island’s clubs, the fresh institution from Ushuaia Entertainment will be cementing its place as one of the trendiest spots around as it builds on the hugely successful debut season of 2017.

Top Pick: Afterlife with Recondite, Helena Hauff, Roman Flugel and more

Sankeys Ibiza
The team behind one of Manchester’s most famous clubbing institutions return to their now primary home on the White Isle, with Unusual Suspects on Thursdays and Idol on Tuesdays. Offering a UK style low ceilinged basement and a warehouse style space as well, Sankeys is gritty underground partying embodied, and there’ll be plenty of huge names stepping through the doors along the way between opening in May and closing in late September.

Top Pick: Timo Maas and more at Idol, Tuesdays.

Ibiza Rocks Hotel
Residencies for Craig David, Toddla T, Garage Nation and more mean Ibiza Rocks Hotel will be one of the busiest venues that the Ibiza nightlife enjoys this summer, with a constant stream of talent en route to play beside the pool. Also boasting #Merky, a grime festival curated by Stormzy himself, Ibiza Rocks is looking like it might be one of the shining lights of the island in 2018, with a plethora of chart-toppers and underground stars alike set to partake in the fun.
