Having previously collaborated with Solange on her 2016 track “Don’t Touch My Hair”, Sampha’s blatant appreciation for the Knowles sister was showcased further in his Glastonbury session for BBC as he performed a soulful rendition of her track, "Cranes in the Sky". Following a flawless performance of his single “Blood On Me” which was taken from his debut solo album released earlier this year, Sampha chose to try his hand at a song he co-wrote.
Stripped back and raw, with the sole accompaniment of piano flowing under his rich voice, Sampha glides with ease from his distinct dulcet tones to a beautiful falsetto. Solange herself showed her love for the cover in a tweet in which she highlighted the unstoppable emotion that overwhelms any listener.
Both Sampha and Solange will be performing at this year’s Lovebox festival, taking place on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th July.
