There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
When you’re head of one of techno’s most successful labels, there’s a certain expectation that you face when stepping up to the decks, and particularly on a platform as big as Boiler Room. After so many years in the game though, there’s very little that Adam Beyer doesn’t take in his stride, and this latest set in Vienna was never in danger of being an exception. Given three hours with which to enchant and dominate the Austrian audience, his mix of unforgiving industrial sounds and more melodic, spacey soundscapes was exactly what we’ve come to expect from all involved in Drumcode, with pounding kicks and rattling percussion driving explorations of dance music’s darker territories. As sleek as ever, Beyer stormed his way into pole position for our latest Mix Of The Week entry.
Drumcode continue their affiliation with London festival Junction 2 this year, with Adam Beyer again recruited as one of the stars of the Boston Manor Park festival. Before that takes place in June, however, he’ll be appearing at Junction 2’s Motion takeover in February, alongside Nina Kraviz, Scuba and more.
