There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
We’ve got something hot off the press this week, Antal’s XLR8R Podcast having dropped just this week. The Rush Hour co-founder is among Amsterdam’s best-respected collectors, with decades of experience as a record shop owner, label head and DJ contributing to his status as one of underground music’s most knowledgeable devotees.
Tasked with squeezing his broad musical identity into a narrow one hour space, Antal decided to use XLR8R Podcast number 481 to spin an electronic journey, dipping through percussive passages and coming out at synth-wave by way of disco, electro and Italo. More ambient than our standard MOTW, this one is aimed at engaging the mind before the dancefloor.
Antal will show off the skills, knowledge and record collection that have made him a cult hero when he arrives at Printworks in London on Saturday 22nd April. Also featuring at some point between Thursday 31st August and Sunday 3rd September, he’ll no doubt be as excited as ever to play his favourite tunes to anyone wanting to listen.
