There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
Considering he’s considered to be one of dubstep’s founding fathers, Artwork isn’t the most immediate name to jump to mind when you’re after a house and disco set, but our TA Mix Of The Week choice this week goes some way to explaining why maybe it should be. Kitted out with a home away from home in the DJ Mag headquarters, the former Magnetic Man member strolls through groovy basslines, delectable vocals and more brass than a whole series of Time Team as he shows off the lighter side of his musical palette. Even taking the time to get on the mic and introduce himself, the chipper Londoner conducted 100 minutes of fun as he fully embraced his disco side.
Look out also for a surprising appearance from rave-loving muppet Beaker, who made what we believe to be his very first appearance in the Mix Of The Week series.as
Artwork plays at a variety of different locations this summer, with the fun kicking off this weekend with an outing in the Leeds for The Garden Party and its official afterparty as well as sets at both incarnations of Common People. Moving to June, a busy weekend sees him at Wild Life Festival and Parklife in quick succession before further shows at Hideout and El Dorado, with a stop in Shoreditch for an East London Summer Terrace Party on Saturday 8th July following before Wilderness Festival and Electric Fields complete a hectic few months of festival selections.
