There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
This week we backtracked a few months in search of our in-house listening, the endeavour proving fruitful as we stumbled upon Commodo’s March mix for Deep Medi. Thrown down during the dubstep label’s takeover of Radar Radio, the hour long mix features Zomby, Joker, Jamakabi and more as Commodo deploys some of the half timed bass monsters that he’ll be unleashing at shows over a busy summer season. Recently announced as one of the supporting cast for a first ever back to back session between Deep Medi head Mala and fellow dubstep originator Benga, Commodo is one of a few British artists determined to attach a little dubstep to the coattails of the grime resurgence, and mixes like this are definitely not a bad way to do it.
Commodo joins the Mala b2b Benga party at Electric Brixton on Saturday 27th May, and that ought to set the tone perfectly for trips to Bristol for Sequences and then Croatia for Outlook later on in the summer.
