There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
It’s 2017 and Mix Of The Week is back, so it seems fitting to start with an old favourite who’s got us all hot under the collar with UK shows booked in for the new year. A disco connoisseur matched by few when it comes to extravagance and bombast, Dimitri From Paris has been spinning the finest cuts for decades, and has a collection that will moisten the eyes of any devotees to the good old days. Showing off tracks from Sister Sledge, Eddie Kendricks and The Ritchie Family among others, Dimitri’s “Special Disco Mix” (aren’t they all?) for Soul Cool Records a few years back is a perfect example of why news of his upcoming shows has been the perfect winter warmer.
Two trips to the North of England are afoot for the Parisian, with Canal Mills the first to receive Dimitri when he arrives in Leeds on Friday 20th January. Offering a special disco dodgeball spectacle in room 2, the canalside warehouse has got Dimitri booked in for a night of prime dancefloor killer in the larger room to provide the night’s main attraction, and Manchester’s La Discotheque appear to have similar plans having booked him in for a party with Todd Terje on Saturday 11th February. Sure to be a spectacular show with two specialists in feel-good anthems on the bill, La Discotheque will be held at the splendid Albert Hall.
