There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
In the minds of those who know about Francesco Del Garda, there probably aren’t many better DJs. Dealing almost exclusively in tracks that don’t get found, the Italian seemingly plucks his tracks out of thin air, managing to make each one groovier, deeper, better and more obscure than anything we could find in years of digging. A collector who started young and now has twenty years of prime tackle to rifle through, Del Garda is a rolls royce minimalist armed with a side helping of trippy garage and the deepest house cuts imaginable. This mix from 2013 illustrates that perfectly, with a constant bounce of weird bleeps and sharp percussion marking it out as vintage Francesco fare, and it’s well worth a revisit for TA’s Mix Of The Week.
Del Garda is in Leeds on Friday 10th February for Butter Side Up, with Binh also lining up at Wire. After that, he’ll be appearing again as a blip on our radar when he heads to Birmingham’s Rainbow Venues on Saturday 15th April, when he will be performing alongside the likes of Zip, Treatment and Andrew James Gustav at Chapter XII.
