Mix Of The Week: Goldie

Mix Of The Week: Goldie

Andrew Kemp | Features & Interviews

There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.

It’s not often we delve into jungle for Mix Of The Week, but then how often does the legendary Goldie release a new mix? Skipping through thick synth string arrangements and quick-fire drum and bass rhythms, this latest XLR8R Podcast shows the Metalheadz co-founder doing exactly what he does best, demonstrating many of his own productions alongside highlights from the label portfolio in a highly emotive hour of choppy beats and melodic weirdness. An exalted pioneer of UK rave culture, Goldie has been widely regarded as one of the most significant players in drum and bass for years, taking hold of various subgenres and redefining them along the way, and with tracks from his forthcoming LP The Journey Man also included, this mix shows that there’s plenty more left in the locker for the celebrated producer.
