There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Wednesday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
Green Velvet, the alter ego we know from house don Cajmere, has produced iconic house tracks including ‘Flash’ and ‘Voicemail’ that has resulted in him becoming a fan favourite across the globe. Leaving his masters degree in chemical engineering to focus on making music, he released Chicago house inspired tracks under Cajmere but now with the adopted different persona and a manic, infectious laugh - Green Velvet has played to thousands of people at festivals and clubs around the world. At his set at W Hotel Barcelona last month he certainly supplies the heaters, with tech house groovers and funky vocals supplied throughout the hour. Nicely building up at the beginning with two-step beats, an all time favourite is carefully mixed in - ‘Finally’, a re-edit by Danny Krivit & Steve Travolta of Kings of Tomorrow featuring Julie McKnight. The energy is lifted and Green Velvet has timed it perfectly to drop his very own ‘Voicemail’, a definite party starter. The crowd are not left disappointed for the final fifteen minutes as he continues with non-stop moving beats.
