There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
Brazen percussion smashes its way through trippy soundscapes with a real sense of purpose in this week’s Mix Of The Week, which is a delectably curated effort for FACT Magazine from HAAi. Dancing its way through an assortment of odd sounds, effervescent synth arpeggios and driving rhythms, the mix combines jacking house, broken techno and tightly wound deep house from a variety of sources, including Richie Hawtin, Planetary Assault Systems and Octo Octa, as well as HAAi’s own mix of Joop Junior’s “Triangle”. A gripping listen from the Australian selector who until recently was singer and guitarist in the shoegaze band Dark Bells, this is a mix that’ll catch you off guard and make you thankful that it did.
HAAi plays at Printworks London on Saturday 2nd December as part of a night with The Chemical Brothers, and is also booked in for a slot at Annie Mac’s Lost & Found Festival in May 2018. Lost & Found is on sale now, and takes place at the beautiful location of St Paul’s Bay in Malta.
