There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
If you’re not familiar with the works of Horse Meat Disco yet, shame on you! The queer tinted disco and funk sounds are the only things needed for these guys to get a party pumping, as they so brilliantly showcase in their set for Mixmag’s LAB LDN. Inspired by the glittering gay scenes of New York in the 70s, you can expect a recreation of those phenomenal elements, with some funky slapping basslines, sexy riffs, fast paced tempos to get those feet (and hips) moving and even some sassy brass. Selections inclusive of Chic (doesn’t get much more disco than Nile Rodgers), Aretha Franklin, a Dimitri From Paris edit of Sylvester, Barry White and a sneaky snippet of one of HMD’s own polished productions, press play and dance your troubles away to our Mix Of The Week!
Horse Meat Disco will be bringing the party beats they’re famed for to Leeds’ Hifi club on New Year’s Eve, before 2019 sees them taking on Annie Mac’s Lost & Found Festival between Thursday 2nd May and Sunday 6th May as well as Croatia’s Hideout Festival taking place between Monday 1st and Saturday 6th July.
