There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Wednesday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
The music industry and the world lost a true icon recently, as the passing of Andrew Weatherall shocked and broke the hearts of many music fans. Known not only for his incredible career, spanning over a number of decades and reaching millions of people, but for his kindness, as a love outpour in tales of tours, festival sets, remixes and more have all come through to honour a true hero. We wanted to honour Weatherall in a similar way and so - for a very special edition of Mix Of The Week, we selected one of his classic and more than memorable historic set. Taken from a 1991 in the long gone Kaos of Leeds, Andrew delivers a blinder hour set that blends his love for post-punk and rockabilly with his aptitude for the current rave scenes taking the UK by storm. Have a listen via Soundcloud below.
Andrew Weatherall was set to perform and speak at this year’s inner city electronic festival and conference, taking place across various venues of Leeds. The festival have decided to honour the DJ and producer in a unique way with “A Tribute to Andrew Weatherall (Fail We May, Sail We Must)” taking place at Leeds College of Music at 6pm on Saturday 7th March.
