There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
NTS may well be the most important radio station in the UK right now, and one young DJ to have benefitted greatly from its platform is Moxie, whose residency has helped her refine her craft as she dances between the underground and the mainstream. An excellent host as well as a talented selector, Moxie has become a solid fixture in the London calendar, both on air and in clubs, and her latest mix is a good example of why it is so easy to fall under her spell.
Inviting acidic experimentalist LA-4A as her guest, Moxie uses the first twenty five minutes to ease her audience in, before handing over to LA-4A for fifty minutes of bumpy acid house. Jumping back in around the 75 minute mark, Moxie returned to a more sedate atmosphere, serving up a mixture of warm house, nu-disco and jazz inspired sounds, showing off a wealth of knowledge and broad range of musical interests on her way to closing the show. An exciting mix throughout, this one took no time at all to become a new office favourite.
Moxie plays at Percolate Open Air at London’s Three Mills Island on Saturday 29th July, and has two Warehouse Project slots booked in for the autumn months. First she’ll be at Store Street for Annie Mac Presents Pt 2 on Saturday 7th October, returning on Saturday 2nd December for a night at the hands of Love International.
