There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
We can’t believe that this mix marks not only his debut legend slot at Dekmantel Festival, but also his first ever appearance on Boiler Room, as well as his first ever feature as our Mix Of The Week! So you best believe that Mr Scruff made this a very special 90 minutes of selecting and mixing. From serving some of the soulful funk he’s famed for with the likes of Trouble Funk’s ‘Woman Of Principle’ and a remix of Projections’ ‘Lovestruck’ moving all the way through to some bolero beats as a drop of Fania All stars’ ‘Coro Miyare’ signals some foot stomping sounds. As good as this mix is - and believe us when we say it’s GOOD - one thing that makes it even better is how much Mr Scruff is clearly enjoying himself just as much as the recipients, as they’re seen surrounded dancing around him, he’s in his element, singing along and dancing himself. This is why Mr Scruff truly deserves our Mix Of The Week title. Press play, listen, dance, and bow down.
Mr Scruff will be a helping hand at Mint Warehouse’s Dirty Disco x Set One Twenty party on Friday 12th October, alongside Floating Points, Bobby Pleasure and more. On Friday 30th November, In:Motion, Bristol get a treat from an all night long set from Mr Scruff himself.
