There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
What more can be said about Nina Kraviz? Russia’s finest DJ has been commanding attention since breaking through into the scene just a decade ago, with techno that can be both bruising and psychedelic forming the core part of her sets. Rarely failing to amaze with her bank of obscure assets, Nina has proven herself to be one of the most enigmatic selectors around, arming herself with unidentifiable bombs which she uses to blow most other DJs out of the water. Doing so again at Printworks last month, Nina dealt out punch-packing tunes with sledgehammer kicks, snarling acid and nightmarish atmospheres, with the cries of the crowd captured by the recording device to make sure we get just how much we missed out on...
If, like us, your listen to the live mix leaves you feeling like you should have been there to see it unfold, you’ll be relieved to hear that this week’s MOTW champion can be caught in the UK again soon, with a set at No Bounds in Sheffield ensuring that Helena Hauff and DJ Nobu aren’t the only ones gearing up for a dystopian stint behind the decks. Also moving on to Croatia a little further down the line, Kraviz has a spell at Dimensions to get excited for too, with the festival taking place from Thursday 31st August to Sunday 3rd September.
