There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
Amsterdam’s Red Light Radio is well-practiced at bringing in dance music connoisseurs for a journey through their most interesting sounds, and the Octo Octa mix that graced the studio last week is a fine example. Shifting gears between space-age techno trips and trance-touched deep house soundscapes, the Brooklyn export incorporated elements of breakbeat and metallic electro as she laid down over an hour of mind-melting dance music, demonstrating why she is so respected as a selector. Also hailed for her positive contribution to transgender visibility having used established success as an artist to raise awareness of gender identity issues during her own transition, Octo Octa is an artist who deserves all the attention she can get, and so we couldn’t have been happier to have this latest mix become our TA Mix Of The Week.
Octo Octa plays at Bestival in East Lulworth, taking to the Lulworth Castle estate alongside a star cast including The xx, A Tribe Called Quest, Pet Shop Boys and many more. The festival gets underway on Thursday 7th September, running until the early morning on Monday 11th September.
